Serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957 involved a lot of truck driving for Melvin R. Bradway. He got to know trucks and decided that trucking was how he wanted to earn his living. In 1959 Melvin and bride, Rosemarie purchased their first truck and Bradway Trucking began. The fleet has since grown to 55 trucks and 350 trailers. Between 1979 and 1983 various members of the family have come on board with son Andrew, serving as President, and son Michael, serving as Vice-President. Bradway at present employs approximately 70 people. Melvin and Rosemarie are still involved with the business serving as CEO and Vice-President respectively.
The company possesses nationwide operating authority but business operations are based predominantly in the northeast. Hauling primarily dry food products, canned goods, glass bottles, juices, beverages and bulk paper, operations are essentially non-seasonal but heavier workloads are experienced during the summer months and all quarter ends.

Bradway also boasts a truck driving school which it operates in cooperation with local community colleges. The school prides itself on providing top-notch, experienced instructors and affords students the opportunity to learn in a safe and controlled environment as well as providing actual trucking experience.
The emphasis at Bradway Trucking has always been on customer service. In keeping with this emphasis, the company has purposefully passed up expanding beyond their ability to maintain control and provide quality service.
